Stephanie Mannis has been a teaching assistant at Heatly for four years and loves working in a small school environment, “..it feels like family,” she says. This is her second year working with fourth grade students, as Ms. Mannis also has experience working with first and second graders.
Ms. Mannis began her career in education at the Junior College of Albany, where she earned a teaching assistant associate’s degree. She then continued her studies at Russell Sage College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Health Education/Exercise Sports Science.
After Ms. Mannis completed her education, she was excited to jump into her new career and work with students. Her most recent position—prior to joining Green Island UFSD—was as a Pre-K teacher’s aide in the Lansingburgh School District.
It’s clear to everyone at Heatly that Ms. Mannis is devoted to her students. When asked what’s the best part about being a teaching assistant, Ms. Mannis replied “…watching the students grow as learners. I love being a part of their growth.”
When Ms. Mannis isn’t at Heatly, she enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to attend her children’s sporting events, as her son plays hockey and her daughter plays softball. Ms. Mannis also loves to spend quality time with her husband, three children and her 17-month-old grandson.
