Green Island is a town-village in Albany County. Green Island is one of only five such town-village amalgams in New York. While the town of Green Island was once an island, it was connected to the mainland on the west side of the Hudson River in the 1960s. Green Island is the smallest town, by area, in New York, covering 0.7 of a square mile (1.8 km).

The Green Island Union Free School District serves students in the village of Green Island. The school often serves as a hub of the community, encouraging community participation in and attendance at sporting events, productions, concerts and other activities.

Stay up to date on the latest events in the district by visiting our calendar of events.

Within a short drive, residents can visit a premiere shopping mall or enjoy a picnic in one of the many local and state parks.
