Members of Albany’s men’s lacrosse team, The FireWolves, paid a visit to Healy School on Wednesday, April 10, to teach lacrosse basics to students ranging from 1st to 8th grades.
Sam Firth and Tye Kurtz, both forwards for The FireWolves, led the classes, which covered essential skills such as ball cradling, retrieving the ball with only the lacrosse stick, throwing techniques, and passing drills.
Sponsored by Albany Parks and Recreation, this event is an extension of their classroom-based Nutrition/Healthy Living module, tailored for students in grades 3 and 4.
“We enjoy coming to schools to help grow the sport and share the team,” said Sam Firth. “We love being a part of the community, and bring lacrosse, nutrition, and our reading program to the youth in the surrounding communities.”
The event highlights Heatly’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle among Green Island’s youth, and the FireWolves’ commitment to fostering community engagement.
