Green Island is a town-village in Albany County. Green Island is one of only five such town-village amalgams in New York. While the town of Green Island was once an island, it was connected to the mainland on the west side of the Hudson River in the 1960s. Green Island is the smallest town, by area, in New York, covering 0.7 of a square mile (1.8 km).
