Coach Rob and his crew of coaches from around the US and the world came to teach Heatly classes from first through twelfth grades the basics of rugby this past week. Students practiced teamwork, self motivation, self regulation and resilience as they did throw and catch relays with a rugby ball, practiced reaction time with a fun cone drill, played Rugby Octopus, and even got into some fun games that utilize the rules of rugby.
Did you know that in rugby, every pass must be thrown backward rather than forward…and that our American Football developed from rugby? We learned so many interesting things about the game, and also some fun facts and personal stories about kangaroos, koalas, and snakes since Coaches Renee, Brad and Angus are from “down under”- Australia and New Zealand.
