Two Heatly students inducted into NHS & NJHS

Students light candles at the Induction Ceremony

Heatly students Alexis McCarthy (grade 10) and Zoie Breslin (grade 8) were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) respectively on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in front of their families, peers and staff members in the John J. McNulty Auditorium.

To reach this exceptional academic milestone, students must meet the criteria outlined in the Four Pillars of NHS and NJHS:

  1. Scholarship: Per national guidelines, at a minimum, students must have a cumulative GPA of 85.
  2. Service: This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation
  3. Leadership: Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
  4. Character: The student of good character is cooperative, demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and maintains a clean disciplinary record

Alexis McCarthy was inducted into NHS with the support of fellow NHS members Aliyah Wachunas, Mackenzie Rankin, Haeli Miller and Elyssa Bailey, as well as NHS advisor Mrs. Debra Desnoyers.

Similarly, Zoie Breslin was inducted into NJHS with the support of NJHS members Addisynn Miller, LJ McCarthy and Julian Peterson, in addition to NJHS advisor Mr. Matthew Manning.

Congratulations to Alexis and Zoie on their exceptional academic achievements!
