First graders predict six more weeks of winter
Punxsutawney
Phil has nothing on Ms. Agars’ and Mrs. Donohue’s first-grade students.
The class made its own Groundhog’s Day prediction on Feb. 2, and
determined that there would indeed be six more weeks of winter.
There were 18 students who thought winter was here to stay versus three students who thought spring was on its way.
The entire class read a book about groundhogs
and what the significance of Phil seeing his shadow is really all about.
They also watched a video on the computer of the groundhog crawling out
of its burrow. Students wrote about what they saw online, and displayed
the projects outside of their classroom door.
