Earning credit for community service

Heatly students can earn credits for volunteer activities

Students in grades 9-12 who complete 15 hours of community service/volunteerism each year will receive 0.5 credit on their transcript. In order to receive credit, students participating in the activities must:


1. Have the activity approved by the Coordinator of the “Class.” They must describe what they will be doing, the amount of time that will be involved, etc.

2. Complete an Activities Form (download a PDF version of the form).

Activity sheets must include the details about the project/activity and signed by a coordinating adult organizing/chaperoning the projecJr.-Sr. High School Community Service Credit - Green Island Union Free School District, Green Island, NYt or activity. Accompanying photos are also welcome (but cannot replace the Activity Sheet).


Students should not be allowed to leave school participate in an activity.
